Set up Stripe
With Stripe, your customers pay online, for example with a credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Klarna. To do this, you connect your own Stripe account to Bookicorn. The money lands directly in your Stripe account, and Stripe pays it out to your bank account.
Connect Stripe to Bookicorn
Here's how to connect Stripe:
- Open Manager → Settings → Payment methods: app.bookicorn.net/einstellungen/zahlungsarten.
- On the Stripe card, tap Connect with Stripe.
- You're redirected to Stripe. There, you sign in with an existing Stripe account or create a new one.
- You enter all the details Stripe asks for, for example your bank details for payouts, directly at Stripe, not in Bookicorn.
- Once you're done, Stripe takes you back to the payment methods.
Only owners and administrators of the studio can connect Stripe.
Which Stripe account you get
Bookicorn connects your own, full Stripe account. This means:
- You keep full control over your account and your payouts.
- You pay Stripe's normal fees.
- You have access to the full Stripe dashboard.
- You can connect a Stripe account you already have.
Your customers' payments go directly to your Stripe account. Bookicorn doesn't keep any of it.
Check the status of the Stripe connection
At the top of the Stripe card, there's a status:

| Ready | The account is set up, customers can pay online. |
Once an account is connected, the card shows three checkpoints below: Onboarding, Payouts and Payments. A green tick means done, a warning triangle means open. If Stripe still needs details, they're listed under Missing information:. You add these details at Stripe.
Bookicorn checks the status with Stripe again every time you open the payment methods.
Keep an eye on balance and payouts
With a connected account, the Stripe card also shows:
- Available: the balance Stripe can pay out.
- Pending: payments Stripe hasn't released yet.
- The latest payouts to your bank account with date and amount.
With Open Stripe Dashboard, you get to your Stripe dashboard. That's also where you set how often Stripe pays out to your bank account. There's no separate setting for this in Bookicorn.
Use Stripe in offerings and packages
Once Stripe is set up, it appears in every offering and every prepaid card under Payment types as a separate line with a switch. Switch it on there for every offering that should be paid online, and enter a Price. How this works in detail is explained under Online payment for bookings.
With the switch on the Stripe card under Settings → Payment methods, you switch Stripe off and on again for the whole studio.
Which payment options customers see via Stripe
You decide in your Stripe account which payment options your customers get via Stripe. Bookicorn reads what's active there:
- Credit card is always included, including Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- Klarna, PayPal, iDEAL, Bancontact and eps appear if they're active in your Stripe account.
- You also enable SEPA Direct Debit in Stripe. Where customers can use it is explained under SEPA Direct Debit.
When Stripe isn't ready yet
Status "Setup incomplete": Stripe still needs some details. Look under Missing information: to see what's open and add it in your Stripe account. Then open the payment methods again.
Checkpoint "Payouts" open: usually the bank details are missing or Stripe is still checking them. You correct this in your Stripe account.
Checkpoint "Payments" open: Stripe hasn't enabled card payments for your account yet. You also sort this out with Stripe.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need my own Stripe account? Yes. You connect your own account or create a new one at Stripe when connecting.
Can I connect a Stripe account I already use? Yes. When connecting, simply sign in with that account.
How often do I get my money from Stripe? You set that in your Stripe dashboard. To get there, tap Open Stripe Dashboard on the Stripe card.
Do I get the fee back if I refund a payment? No. Stripe doesn't refund the payment fee. The customer gets the full amount back; the fee stays with you.
Do I need Stripe to use Bookicorn? No. Without Stripe, you can use payment on site, bank transfer, PayPal with your own credentials and prepaid cards. You need Stripe for online card payments and for automatically paying out shares to self-employed trainers.
