Buying Credits

Note: Credits are one of four payment methods in Bookicorn. Besides credits, there is also Direct payment (Stripe: credit card, SEPA, Apple Pay, Google Pay), Cash payment (book online, pay cash at the studio) and Manual payment (bank transfer/PayPal, studio confirms receipt). Which methods are available is determined by the studio.

Here is how credit purchases work for your members.

What Are Credits?

The Concept

Credits are balance for course bookings:

  • Customers buy credits in advance
  • Courses cost X credits
  • Flexible use within the validity period

Credit Packages

Package Overview

In the credit shop, customers see all packages:

  • Package name
  • Number of credits
  • Price
  • Validity
  • Special features (e.g. trainer-bound)

Purchase Process

Step by Step

  1. Open credit shop (dashboard or website)
  2. Select package
  3. Click "Buy"
  4. Stripe Checkout opens
  5. Enter payment details:
    • Credit card, SEPA, PayPal, etc.
  6. Complete payment
  7. Credits available immediately

Payment Confirmation

After a successful purchase:

  • Credits appear in the account
  • Confirmation email with invoice
  • Immediately usable for bookings

Subscriptions

What Are Credit Subscriptions?

Recurring credit packages:

  • Automatically renewed monthly
  • Credits are topped up
  • Convenient without manual purchase

Signing Up for a Subscription

  1. Choose a package with "Subscription"
  2. Add payment method
  3. Confirm monthly charge
  4. New credits every month

Managing Subscriptions

In the dashboard under "My Subscriptions":

  • View active subscriptions
  • Change payment method
  • Pause subscription
  • Cancel subscription

Cancelling a Subscription

  1. Open subscription
  2. Click "Cancel"
  3. Confirm
  4. Runs until end of period
  5. Existing credits remain usable

Validity

Expiry Date

Each package has an expiry date:

  • From purchase (e.g. 6 months)
  • From first use
  • Fixed date

Warning Before Expiry

Customers receive a warning:

  • 7 days before expiry by email
  • Visible in dashboard

What Happens When Credits Expire?

  • Credits expire automatically
  • No refund
  • Buy new packages

  • Bookings

  • Adjustments

Redeeming a Voucher Code

  1. In the credit shop: "Redeem voucher"
  2. Enter code
  3. Click "Redeem"
  4. Discount is applied or credits are added

After every purchase:

  • Invoice by email

Accessing Invoices

  1. Open dashboard
  2. "Invoices" or "Purchases"
  3. Select invoice
  4. Click "Download"

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I return credits?

Purchased credits generally cannot be returned. Exceptions are individual arrangements with the studio.

What if I have too many credits?

Credits cannot be transferred. Use them before they expire or talk to the studio about extending them.

Can I combine different packages?

Yes, you can have multiple packages at the same time. The system always uses the oldest credits first (FIFO).

Why can't I book even though I have credits?

  • Check if credits are active (not paused)
  • Check if credits are valid for this course
  • For trainer-bound credits: Is it the right trainer?

Can I give credits as a gift?

Not directly. Instead, buy a voucher from the studio.
