Upload images
In Bookicorn, you upload images in several places: logo, favicon, images for the booking page, offering images, trainer photos and the logo for invoices. This page tells you where to do it, how large an image may be and what to do if you see an error message.
How large can an image be?
An image can be at most 5 MB, measured the way Bookicorn stores it in the end.
Bookicorn automatically shrinks almost all images when you upload them: they are converted to WebP, reduced to at most 1920 x 1080 pixels and brought down to about 300 KB where possible. A phone photo of several MB is therefore usually no problem. If Bookicorn can't shrink an image, it stores the original. If that is larger than 5 MB, the upload is aborted.
Exception: the Logo and Favicon under Settings → General are not shrunk. There, the file itself may be at most 5 MB. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and SVG are allowed.
Which format and resolution work best?
Below most image fields, the Manager shows a recommendation:
- Areas such as offering images, hero images and the gallery: "Best in 16:9 format and at least 1200 pixels wide. JPG, PNG or WebP, we shrink the image automatically."
- People such as trainer photos: "Best square and at least 600 x 600 pixels."
If an area image is narrower than 1200 pixels, the note "Image is small" appears after uploading. The image is still saved, but it looks blurry on your booking page. In that case, it's better to upload a larger image.
Error message "Data could not be saved" when uploading
If "Data could not be saved." appears when you upload an image, the upload has failed. The most common cause is a file that is too large (over 5 MB). For the logo and favicon under General, it can also be a format that isn't allowed.
Here's how to fix it:
- Make the image smaller, for example with your phone's editing function or an image editor, or export it as a JPG.
- Upload it again.
When uploading to an offering's gallery, the message is "Failed to upload images".
Upload your logo and favicon
- Logo: Settings → General → Studio Branding → Upload logo. This logo appears in the header of your booking page and takes priority over the logo under My Booking Page.
- Favicon (the small image in the browser tab): Settings → General → Favicon → Upload file. Without a favicon of your own, Bookicorn uses the logo.
In addition, under My Booking Page → Design → Logo & favicon there are separate fields for the booking page's logo and favicon. They are shrunk like other images. The logo there only takes effect as long as no logo is stored under General.
Upload images for the booking page
- Hero images: in the widget settings of the Hero block under Slide → Image.
- About us photo: in the About us block under Photo.
- Gallery: My Booking Page → Content → Gallery, at most twelve images. When all slots are taken, it says "All twelve slots taken".
New gallery images are marked as hero images at first and then appear in the hero, not in the Gallery block. How to change this is explained under Design your booking page.
Upload images for offerings
- Main image: Offerings → offering → Edit → For customers → Appearance → Image. It appears on the offering's card on your booking page.
- Offering gallery: in the offering view under Gallery, at most 20 images. You can select several images at once. When you create a new offering, the gallery images end up in its gallery when you save the offering.
Upload a trainer photo and a resource image
- Trainer photo: Manager → Trainer → open the trainer → Profile → Personal data → Photo. The photo appears on the booking page and in the calendar. Recommended: square, at least 600 x 600 pixels.
- Resource image (Resources addon): in the resource form under Image. Customers see it on the offering page and when choosing the resource.
Logo on invoices
The logo on your invoices belongs to the invoice issuer, not to the studio logo. You upload it under Invoices → Invoice Issuers → open the invoice issuer → Basic Data → Logo. Bookicorn stores this logo as a PNG with at most 1200 x 1200 pixels so that it appears in the invoice PDF. Invoices are available with the Invoicing System addon.
Frequently asked questions
How large can an image be? At most 5 MB. Bookicorn shrinks most images automatically. The logo and favicon under Settings → General are not shrunk.
