Guest Booking

With the guest booking addon, customers can book courses without having to create an account with you beforehand. They simply enter their details, confirm their email with a verification code and complete the booking. Massively lowers the hurdle for first-time bookers.

Where to activate guest booking

The guest booking is activated individually for each course - not for all courses in your studio. In the admin area under "Courses", go to the editing of the course and activate the "Allow guest booking" button.

This allows you to make a specific decision:

• Enable drop-in classes or taster sessions for guests
• Continue to open member-exclusive courses for account holders only

This is how a guest booking works

1. Guest opens the course (via studio subdomain, custom domain or widget)
2. Click on Book
3. Selects "Book as guest" instead of "Register"
4. Enter your data:
   • First name, last name
   • E-mail address
   • Phone number (optional)
   • Address (street, zip code, city) - for invoicing
5. Receives a 6-digit verification code by e-mail
6. Enters the code
7. Completes the booking with payment method

Verification code in detail

The code:

• Has 6 digits (between 100000 and 999999)
• Is valid 10 minutes from dispatch
• Is sent by e-mail to the specified address
• Is stored in the guest_verification_codes database table

If the guest does not enter the code within the 10 minutes, he can request a new one.

If there are too many code requests in a short period of time, a rate limit is applied to prevent spam and abuse.

E-mail already known?

If a guest enters an email that already has a full account with you, the system automatically recognizes this. In this case, the customer is offered the login instead - this way you avoid duplicate accounts.

Ghost user system

Guests are created internally as so-called "ghost users" - in simple terms: accounts without a password that only work using the email code login. Advantage:

• You see guests in the customer list with all bookings
• If the guest later creates a fully-fledged account, their previous bookings are automatically assigned
• The guest can log in again without a password by requesting a new code

Guests in the customer list

Guest bookings also appear in your customer list in the admin area. You can see the name, email, address and all bookings. This gives you a complete overview - whether you are a regular customer or a first-time booker.

When is the addon worthwhile?

Useful for you if:

• You offer drop-in courses or trial lessons
• First-time booker hurdles for booking should be minimal
• You do online marketing and want to optimize conversion
• Your studio benefits from tourists, gifts or one-off bookings

Studios with pure memberships (e.g. yoga studios with 10-class cards) need the add-on less - the account pays off directly for the customer.

Mandatory fields for guest bookings

Address fields are mandatory for billing reasons (invoicing in Germany requires a complete recipient address). You cannot deactivate this obligation in the admin.
