Categories help you and your customers organize and find courses.
What are categories for?
For you as an admin
- Better overview in the course list
- Quick filtering by course type
- Statistics per category
For your customers
- Easier navigation in the schedule
- Filters in the booking portal
- Faster discovery of relevant courses
Managing categories
Opening the category list
- Go to Courses
- Click on Categories (tab or button)
- You'll see all existing categories
Creating a new category
- Click New category
- Fill in the form:
- Name: e.g. "Yoga"
- Description: Optional
- Color: For calendar display
- Icon: Optional
- Save

Here are typical categories for different studio types:
Yoga studio

Assigning categories
When creating a course
In the course form:
- Go to the Base tab
- Select the category from the dropdown
- Save
Categorizing an existing course
- Open the course
- Click Edit
- Select the category
- Save
Multiple courses at once
- Go to the course list
- Select multiple courses (checkbox)
- Click Bulk edit
- Select Change category
- Choose the new category
- Apply
Categories in the calendar
Color coding
- Each category has a color
- Sessions are displayed in the category color
- Quick visual distinction
Filter by category
- Open the calendar
- Use the category filter
- Only selected categories are displayed
Categories for customers
In the schedule
Customers see:
- Filter buttons for each category
- Color-coded courses
- Category name on the course
In the booking view
- Courses grouped by categories
- Filter options
- Quick discovery of matching courses
Editing a category
- Go to Categories
- Click on a category
- Edit name, color, etc.
- Save
Note: Changes affect all assigned courses.
Deleting a category
Prerequisite
A category can only be deleted if:
- No courses are assigned to it anymore
- OR you select a replacement category
Steps
- Go to Categories
- Click on the category
- Select Delete
- For assigned courses:
- Leave courses without a category
- OR select a replacement category
- Confirm
Subcategories
For more complex structures you can use subcategories:

Creating a subcategory
- Create a new category
- Select Parent category
- Save
Best practices
Not too many categories
- 5-10 categories are ideal
- Too many confuse customers
- Better broad than too specific
Clear names
- "Yoga for beginners" instead of "Y1"
- Customers should understand immediately
- Consistent naming
Logical color choices
- Similar courses = similar colors
- Calm courses = calm colors (green, blue)
- Intense courses = bold colors (red, orange)
Clean up regularly
- Deactivate unused categories
- Merge categories with few courses
- Adjust structure when needed
