Custom Terms
Without any further setup, your customers agree to the terms and conditions of the Bookicorn platform when they book and buy. With the Custom Terms addon, you add your own terms and conditions instead. Bookicorn provides the editor, the versions and the consent during booking, not the content. It's best to have your terms checked legally.
Activate the Custom Terms addon
- Open Manager → Addon Store.
- Tap Custom Terms.
- Tap Activate.
After that, the settings are right in the Addon Store under Custom Terms.
Where I edit my terms
You edit your terms under Manager → Addon Store → Custom Terms:
- Tap Add terms (the first time) or Edit terms.
- Write your text or paste it in. Use the toolbar to format it: Bold, Italic, Underline, Heading 1 to Heading 3, Bullet list, Numbered list, alignment and Link.
- Under Preview, you see how the text looks.
- Tap Publish.
The text needs at least 50 characters. Before publishing, the Manager asks: "The text will be published as version … and applies to new bookings from now on."
Save a draft without publishing
With Save draft, you save your text without publishing it. The draft isn't visible to customers. Under Custom Terms, it then says "Unpublished draft available". With Discard draft, you delete it again; the published version stays in place.
Versions of your terms
Each publication gets a new version number. Under Versions, you see all published versions, and the current one is marked. Published versions are kept so it stays traceable which version a customer accepted when booking. If the text hasn't changed, Bookicorn doesn't create a new version ("No changes compared to the published version").
Switch your own terms on and off
Under Custom Terms, you find the Own terms active switch. If it's off, the Bookicorn terms apply again. Your terms and their versions stay saved.
When your customers see your own terms
Your own terms apply when all three points are true:
- the Custom Terms addon is active,
- you have published at least one version,
- the Own terms active switch is on.
Then your customers agree to your terms when they book and buy. If one of the points is missing, the Bookicorn terms apply, without bookings being interrupted. The terms page of your booking page then shows that the terms of the Bookicorn booking platform apply.
Bookicorn saves every consent to your terms with the version and the time.
Your own terms in several languages
Your terms exist in one version. All customers see the same text, regardless of their language. If you need several languages, write them into the same text.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I edit the terms? Under Addon Store → Custom Terms → Edit terms. For this, you need the Custom Terms addon.
Why do my customers still see the Bookicorn terms? Check whether you have published a version and whether Own terms active is on. A saved draft isn't enough.
Do new terms also apply to old bookings? A new version applies to new bookings from now on. For older bookings, it stays on record which version the customer agreed to.
Can I add my terms per language? No, there's one version for all customers.
Do my terms also replace the contract between me and Bookicorn? No. Your own contract with Bookicorn is under Settings → Legal.
